Decision: iPad or MacBook Air

With the release of the new MacBook Air, people are now facing the decision as to whether they should purchase the Air or go with the iPad. Even Apple has said that the new Air's are very similar to the iPad, and should function the same. Hence, the reason that people are wondering should they shell out the extra money for Air, or go with the less expensive iPad.

Both devices are from the makers of Apple, which means that function wise, they are similar. In fact, most people have found that the 11 inch Air and the iPad, practically function the same, however the eleven inch is just on a bigger scale. For those that are debating this decision, consider a few aspects.
First, the iPad does not have a full keyboard like the eleven or thirteen inch Air does. However, when looking at the size of the devices, the iPad is smaller. So really, when purchasing the devices based on size alone, then the consumer should narrow their choices down to the iPad or the eleven inch Air. The iPad is much smaller, and even has the option of leaving the keyboard behind so that you can simply use the iPad for watching movies or reading books, this is something that the Air cannot offer.
Battery life wise, the iPad offers around ten hours of use, while the eleven inch Air offers five hours of use. However, there are a few things that the iPad cannot do that they Air has the ability to complete. Price wise, the iPad is somewhat cheaper than the Air. Actually, around a hundred or more dollars cheaper. So, which is better?
For those that will be traveling quite a bit, the Air is probably the best decision since it can do everything that a normal computer can do. Though the iPad would be smaller, thus easier to carry, the Air is not going to be that much more difficult to carry with you. The comfort of knowing that you have a computer with you, outweighs the weight that the device adds.
However, if you are just someone that goes out for the day from work and just needs to be near your email for business reasons, then the iPad will be sufficient in this manner. The choice really depends upon what your purpose will be for the devices. Many people find that owning both devices come in handy that way they can use each for a different situation while still staying connected and on top of what they need to do.
